1 Who we are & what this covers

Newdays is an independent merchant-services (payments / ISO-agent) business serving the Greater Toronto Area. We help local cafés, shops and restaurants get honest, itemized card-processing pricing.

This privacy notice covers the information collected through this website — the landing page, its savings calculator, and the quote request form. It does not cover the separate systems of the banks, card networks or processors you may ultimately be set up with; those parties have their own privacy policies.

2 What we collect & why

Details you give us in the quote form

When you submit the form, we collect your name, business name, email, phone number, and any message you write. We use this to reply to your quote request and to follow up about merchant services.

A statement you upload for review

If you choose to send us a recent merchant statement (a PDF, or a photo of a paper statement), that file — along with your name, business name, email and phone — is emailed directly to the owner so a real person can review it and prepare your savings analysis. The email travels over an encrypted connection. The uploaded file is never stored on the website's servers — not on disk and not in any database; it exists only long enough to be sent to the owner, then it is discarded.

Your calculator inputs and the estimate

If you use the savings calculator, the numbers you enter — your credit and Interac (debit) sales volumes, transaction counts, and the total fees you currently pay — along with the estimate we compute (your costs, effective rates, and projected savings) are sent with your quote request so we can prepare an accurate quote. The same calculator numbers are also collected anonymously (not tied to your name) to help us understand how the calculator is used.

Approximate location

We estimate your approximate location — city, region and country — from your IP address. This helps us pre-fill the area you're in on a quote and understand where interest is coming from. We do not collect precise GPS location.

Your language preference

When you choose a language, we remember it by storing it in your browser (in localStorage) so the site shows that language next time. This preference stays in your browser and is only sent to us as part of the anonymous usage information described below.

Anonymous usage pings (analytics)

When you use the calculator, change the language, or move through the page, the site may send a small anonymous "beacon" to us. It contains the calculator numbers, your chosen language, and your approximate location — and also the page you came from (the referring page), the address of the page you visited (including any campaign tags in the link that brought you here), your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), and a random session identifier that exists only for your visit — it is set with no cookie, is not stored on your device, and cannot identify you across visits. If you use the statement-audit calculator, the ping also includes the anonymous rate and fee figures you enter. None of this includes your name or contact details. We use it only to understand which parts of the site help merchants, and to improve it.

3 Third parties we share with

We keep sharing to the minimum needed to run the site and answer you:

• ipapi.co — when the page loads, your browser contacts ipapi.co to estimate your location. This means your IP address is shared with ipapi.co. We use the result only to pre-fill your approximate location in a quote.
• Our email provider — when you submit the form (or upload a statement), your quote request and any uploaded statement are emailed to us through our email/SMTP provider over an encrypted (STARTTLS) connection for a person to review. Uploaded statements are never stored on the website's servers — they are only emailed to the owner and then discarded.
• MaxMind GeoLite2 — our own server may also estimate location using an offline database. In that case your IP address is not sent to MaxMind.

We do not sell your personal information.

4 How we store & protect it

• Information from the form and calculator is kept in a self-hosted, access-controlled database that we manage.
• The internal admin view used to read submissions is password-protected.
• Data travels to and from the site over HTTPS, and quote emails are sent over encrypted connections.

No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

5 How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it, and no longer:

• Contact & quote information: kept only as long as we need it to respond to you and provide service, then deleted.
• Anonymous analytics: collected without personal identifiers and retained in aggregate form.

6 Your choices & rights

Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct information that is wrong or out of date;
• Ask us to delete your information; and
• Withdraw your consent to our use of it (this may mean we can no longer prepare a quote for you).

To make any of these requests, just contact us using the details in section 10. When you submit the quote form, you are giving us your implied consent to use the information you provide to prepare and discuss your quote.

7 Cookies & local storage

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only thing we store in your browser is your language choice (in localStorage), so the site can show the right language when you return. You can clear it any time through your browser settings.

8 Children

This website is meant for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9 Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top so you can see when it last changed.
